Focus: foundational firearm safety, handling, safety absolutes, and basic marksmanship for young shooters

Requirements: youth must be physically and mentally capable; rimfire rifle or handgun and 100 rounds factory ammo required; rentals, family/small group options, homeschool and scholarship discounts available

- Focus: safety, gun and ammo selection, shot placement, basic ballistics, and what makes an effective “bear gun”
- Holsters, slings, and effective carry options for field work and recreation
- Practical function – getting effective impacts under pressure
- Alaska bear-defense laws and reporting parameters,
- Bear Defense / Bear Guard qualification – proctored (if applicable)
- Offered for individuals, private groups, or corporate training

- Rifles must have a confirmed 100-yard zero (no exceptions), and participants must possess established rifle proficiency with reliable accuracy and DOPE to 300 yards
- Learn effective shooting bag selection and management for maximized stability
- Build solid, adaptable shooting positions tailored to the needs of the target
- Refine control of wobble zone, improve pre and post recoil management and develop the ability to spot impacts
- Apply new skills through realistic mock stages designed to reinforce technique
- Strengthen core fundamentals essential for sport shooters, hunters, and competitive marksmen

- Covers optics optimization, ballistic apps / drop card creation, wind reading, external ballistics / environmental factors,
- Positional shooting and mid-range accuracy (note this is a physically demanding course)
- Includes mixed-range steel, practical challenges and real-world shooting scenarios
- Working coms and shooter / spotter teams you’ll learn range estimation and target size without a laser or rangefinder, gun number for faster wind calls, and more!
