Description
Join us for The Alaska Mile at Willow Creek Air Park, a beautiful corner of Alaska, for a weekend built for shooters of every skill level – whether you’re here to compete or just here to shoot, we welcome you! The venue offers ample parking for competitors and spectators within easy walking distance of the firing line, food vendor support all day Saturday and Sunday, a covered observation area behind the firing line, and a large social area where everyone can safely take in the action all weekend long. Primitive camping is available on site, and a variety of vendors and sponsors will host booths with weekend raffles, swag giveaways, and product knowledge to fill your time in between trigger presses. Prizes will be awarded Sunday evening and broadcast on facebook live, prize table items and trophies can be picked up at Arctic Ammo and Reloading in Wasilla if the winner isn’t present.
Schedule
- Friday, October 2 — Practice Day, 2pm–6pm Steel available from 300-1500 yards – the mile is not open on Friday
- Saturday, October 3 — Match Day, 10am–6pm (AM and PM sessions) Practice steel will be open all day
- Sunday, October 4 — Match Day, 10am–5pm (AM and PM sessions) Practice steel will be open all day
Pricing
- Practice Pass — $10 Join us on Friday or all weekend just to shoot non-competitively- Steel targets to 1500 yards!
- Saturday or Sunday Match Session (AM or PM) — $45, includes competitor meal
How Scoring Works
Please register for a specific time slot so we can guarantee you’ll compete within a reasonable time line. If you’re unable to make your registered time, we’ll fit you in!
Competitors of the Alaska Mile must first impact a mid-range qualification target (expect ~1000 yards). Hit up the practice field open Friday, 2-6pm, or all weekend, impact the qual target, and then come on over to join the Mile wait list.
Remember: Alaska does everything bigger! Exact Alaska Mile Yardage will be announced the DAY OF competition.
On one registration, you’re welcome to shoot the Alaska Mile multiple times (as time allows) but only your first run on the Mile platform will be scored.
From the start command, competitors have 4 minutes to dial, load, and engage all three targets from large to small. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted. After 3 rounds have been fired, each round fired in addition to the first 3 is given a time penalty of 5 seconds per round. Competitive placement is scored based on time expended and number of rounds fired, including the round count penalties. For full course of fire details, click HERE.
The Alaska Mile is the culmination of a commitment that started in 2009, when Arctic Ammo & Reloading and Accurate Advantage began serving Alaska’s shooting community with quality products, professional training, and opportunities for growth. This event is our industry-leading annual competition, built to test precision and adaptability while creating an experience shooters will talk about for years.
