Description
Rifle Instruction: Mid-Range Rifle Practical
Our Mid-range Practical Rifle course builds on what you learned in Intermediate Bolt or Carbine Rifle and brings you into the next tier of precision with your firearm platform. This rifle instruction develops your ability to send consistent, accurate groups from 100 to 600 yards under pressure and from less-optimal positions.
Who This Rifle Instruction Is For
This mid-range rifle course fits hunters who seek assured and ethical shots, as well as target shooters who enjoy pushing limits or defenders looking to build confident, dependable performance under pressure. Above all, this rifle instruction is designed for marksmen who prefer real-world skills over theory.
Course Structure
The course is divided into two sessions, with each building progressively on your rifle instruction foundation.
Session One: Building Foundations (100-300 Yards)
Training begins with foundations of safety, optics basics, platform technique, bolt or gas gun fundamentals, and core ballistics. From initial sight-in to a steel challenge at the end of day one, you build steady control of your rifle from 100 to 300 yards.
Skills Covered:
- Faster target acquisition
- Improved precision
- Building necessary support in compromised shooting positions
- Steady rifle control under various conditions
Session Two: True Mid-Range Rifle Instruction (300-600+ Yards)
The second session moves you into true mid-range rifle shooting and out to 600 yards or beyond, as skill and equipment allow.
Advanced Skills:
- Reading wind conditions
- Dialing elevation accurately
- Estimating holdover for various distances
- Making repeatable hits at distance
- Mixed-range drills and positional shooting
- Reticle-based measurement techniques
- Elevated heart-rate challenges to simulate pressure
What You’ll Gain from This Rifle Instruction
You will apply proven techniques that strengthen shooting instincts and sharpen your understanding of optics and your firearm platform. As a result, each drill helps you read conditions with greater confidence. You learn not only how to shoot well, but also why your shots land where they do. That insight turns fundamentals into a repeatable, dependable skillset.
In addition, these skills strengthen your ability to perform under pressure when conditions are less than ideal. By the end of this mid-range rifle instruction, your competence shows through practical, confident precision at distance.
Prerequisites: Completion of Intermediate Bolt or Carbine Rifle, or equivalent experience.
