Shooter Info: UPDATED 10/2/25
Location: You’ll leave the Parks Highway turning West between mile 73 and 74
This is for the Alaska Dog Center – you’ll pass them on the way back to the event.
Next, view this map for driving directions to the actual Alaska Mile Event location:
The road and parking area will be well signed. Head straight west passing the primary runway, and taking a right on the taxiway. You’re welcome to drop your gear at the shooting platform (see the red turnaround arrow) and re-park if you’d like. We’re required to maintain a medical and fire lane free of vehicles behind the actual shooting platform.
Safety Brief:
All shooters must sign a waiver and attend a safety brief prior to live fire. Safety Briefs will be given at the top of every hour, or as necessary. You’ll receive a stamp upon completion and are welcome to proceed to the check target station.
Check Target:
A mid range check target is required to be impacted prior to anyone shooting the Alaska mile. Check target shooting lanes will remain open for live fire throughout the event, feel free to use this shoot station as much as you’d like. Exact yardage will be determined the day of the event, we’re hoping for an ~800 yard 2.5 MOA target. This is a coached station, we’ll do our best to diagnose any problems and get you ready for the mile, or if needed Upper Susitna Shooters is just up the road. You’ll receive a second stamp after successful impact of the check target, and are welcome to get on the waitlist for the Mile.
Shoot The Mile
After the check target has been completed, shooters will shoot the Alaska Mile on a first come / first served basis joining the wait list after check target confirmation. (Course of Fire Below)
You’ll be notified when your platform time slot is coming up and encouraged to collect and ready your gear to be available immediately upon your name being called. This helps us avoid lag times and allows multiple shooting opportunities for each individual. Platform sessions will be 4 minutes long (not including setup and tear down) Only your first platform session is scored, though you can jump back on the shooting list as many times as you’d like / as time allows. If necessary, platform time preference may be given to new arrivals. Scores will be posted locally on monitors and on practiscore for future reference. Full match results and photos will be posted on the Accurate Advantage website for your reference and sharing. Winners aren’t required to be present to win, though it would be pretty awesome to hand you your trophy in person!
Shooter and Observer Conduct:
Shooters and Observers (non-shooters) are welcome to watch other competitors, as long as you stay within a designated, well marked viewing area – downrange cameras will provide a continuous live feed of the action. Observation may be helpful as you plan your own wind calls and set up. Absolutely no coaching, heckling, or shooter distractions are allowed from those in the viewing area. These actions will be met with a match DQ and removal from the event, scores if existent will be forfeited – no exceptions. Competitors will shoot as individuals – no teams or personal spotters are allowed to be on the platform. Young Guns (17 and younger) and individuals shooting just for fun or coming back for an additional try are allowed to have coaches / coaching and a personal spotter if desired. Platform time is still limited to 4 minutes per shooter (not including setup and tear down). AK Mile RSOs are not available for individual coaching. Coaching is available at the Check Target station.
A social area will be located out of earshot, you’re welcome to discuss strategy and heckle all you want at this location. A bonfire, covered sitting area, food line, and yard games will be available for your enjoyment at this location.
Firearm Safety:
-Chamber Flags Are Required for all competitors! If you don’t have one, one will be provided.
-Rifles must be transported with the action open, magazine and/ or ammo removed, flag in.
-Rifles can be grounded in designated areas pointed downrange or racked as rack space allows.
-Flagging or lack of compliance to match rules or RSO safety requests will earn a match DQ -scores if existent will be forfeited.
UPDATED 10/2/25

– From the start command, competitors have 4 minutes to dial, load, and engage the targets. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted
– Target order is large to small, hit to move. You must impact the bigger plate before moving on to the next smaller plate. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted
– Each round fired in addition to the first 3 is given a time penalty of 5 seconds per round – Your first three rounds have no time penalty.
