Course Overview
Youth firearm training is offered through our Private / Custom Instruction program, with courses designed to introduce young shooters to safe firearm handling. By building respect, safety fundamentals, and proper techniques early, we help create lifelong competence and eliminate the risks that come with unanswered curiosity. Our goal is to give young people a clear, practical understanding of firearm safety and responsibility.
This first step is crucial, and we’re committed to helping lay a solid foundation for your child’s safe future with firearms. Moreover, we encourage young people to build safe habits while enjoying the excitement of age-appropriate shooting sports.
We do not require a fixed age requirement. Instead, eligibility is determined by two factors:
- Physical ability to safely handle the firearm(s) for the full course.
- Mental focus to stay engaged for the full course duration.
If both elements are present, your youth is welcome. Furthermore, parent or guardian participation is highly encouraged but not required.

Course Details:
- Total course length: 2-4 hours
- Course Cost for up to 2 youth: 2 hours = $180, 3 hours = $270, 4 hours = $320
Age-appropriate firearms in a variety of rimfire and centerfire calibers are available to rent. Your instructor must evaluate firearms brought from the student’s context prior to authorization for use in youth firearm training.
Youth handgun or rifle rentals are $15 and include the firearm, necessary accessories, and 100 rounds of rimfire or 20 rounds of centerfire ammo. We invoice additional ammunition shot in class per rounds fired.
What You’ll Learn in Youth Firearm Training
Youth firearm training focuses on the most vital part of a young shooter’s education: their first formal introduction to firearms. Students learn core safety rules, range etiquette, and firearm handling from the ground up. Additionally, instructors emphasize safety absolutes such as muzzle awareness, trigger discipline, and safe loading and unloading procedures, along with practical guidance on storage, maintenance, and responsible use as applicable.
Once we establish safety, students begin working on basic marksmanship and proper technique. Using age-appropriate calibers, we coach youth on stance, grip, sight alignment, and a consistent shot process appropriate to their size and experience level. The goal is to help youth build safe habits, gain confidence, and enjoy the thrill of the shooting sports in a structured, supervised setting.
Required Equipment: Age-appropriate rifle or handgun, both in caliber and size, and 100 rounds of factory ammunition. We offer firearms to rent from Accurate Advantage if you do not yet own suitable equipment.
