As an intro\, we overview the major “pillars” that provide you the most success in your long-range goals. This one-day course is for the competitor\, the hunter\, the hobbyist\, or the curious looking to up their game or quench a curiosity about performance at distance. This is a great prep course for those looking to get into PRS! More info on Alaska PRS can be found HERE! \nTopics covered include safety absolutes\, platform imperatives\, firing process\, basic ballistics\, atmospheric conditions\, calculating and proving DOPE\, understanding repeatable precision and accuracy\, wind call and corrections\, and more. Shooters will work in spotter / shooter teams and will cover an incredible amount of ground in a short amount of time. \nNote that this is not a shooting fundamentals course – students must possess an existing competency in 200 to 300-yard precision / accuracy from the prone or benchrest position. \nPreferred is for the student of this course to have completed either our Intermediate Bolt Rifle 201\, or MidRange Practical Rifle\, but previous training with us is not required. DESCRIPTION:An introduction of how to prepare for and successfully shoot an NRL Hunter Match. Register HERE \nHave you been curious about the National Rifle League and the fastest growing competitive shooting event in the nation? Welcome to NRL Hunter!\nIn this training event we’re excited to detail the outline\, mindset\, and skillset challenged by an NRL hunter match\, and get you feeling ready to jump in to your first event! \nTraining Will Include:\n-Full overview of the NRL Hunter match structure\, rules\, and process.\n-The CORE of NRL\, how it differs from other options and why it was created\n-Gear suggestions\, set up\, and tips that could save you hours and dollars as you look into joining the NRL match series!\n-Rifle configuration\, optics optimization\, tripod / bipod interface\n-Understanding of positional shooting\, entry and exits to awkward positions\, use of equipment for better stability\, and natural point of aim\,\n-Shoot 3 stages as if you were registered as a Skills Shooter. Shoot the final 2 stages as if you were registered as an Individual Shooter (teams welcome to both!)\n-After everyone has completed the full walk through of all stages\, 3 stages will reopen for continued training. Each stage will be monitored by an experienced RO\, and all borrow equipment will be available. \nThis event is hosted at the Upper Susitna Shooters Association 1000 yard range in Talkeetna\, HOWEVER to keep stages blind\, we’re shooting laterally across the 1000 yard range\, which means\, we’re training for a centerfire NRL Hunter competition\, but can only shoot .22LR. .22LR ONLY no 22mag or .17HMR please. \nTrue to the nature of the NRL hunter competitive structure\, in this match\,the targets are achievable for the average mid-range shooter –  the shooting portion is not the only challenge. Finding\, ranging correctly\, dialing for\, and impacting the targets on a tight timeline from constructed shooting positions are together a formidable challenge! But arguably the most fun you’ll have with a rifle. \nYou can expect targets to range from 50-150 yards mimicking calculating ballistics for standard NRL targets which average from 300-700 yards. Targets will be sized appropriately to the NRL standard. \nPacking List:\n-Rimfire .22LR rifle\, bolt or semi auto\, best if equipped with removable magazines – 8 rounds possible per stage. Extra magazines and magazine pouch on your belt or rifle are recommended\n– Scoped optic – best if equipped with externally adjustable turrets\, AND / OR a reticle with sub-tensions for holds – remember targets are 30-100 yards in distance and range in size from 1″ – 6″\n-Ammo – 40 rounds + sighters + practice ammo for continued training after the “match” concludes.\n-Tripod\, binos (range finding binos are NRL Preferred\, but non RX is fine!) Range finder\, tac table\, shooting bag\, bipod\,\n-DOPE for targets 30-100 yards\n-Backpack – something you’d use for hunting! DESCRIPTION:This course seeks to equip you with practical mid-range bolt action or carbine rifle skills preparing you to place consistent\, accurate shot groups at distances ranging from 100-1000 yards\, equipment permitting. We utilize time-proven technique and field-proven wisdom to assure accurate performance at various yardages in a variety of compromised positions preparing the hunter\, the target shooter\, or the competitor for repetitive accuracy. \nThis course includes two shooting sessions: the first session covers safety foundations\, optics basics\, platform technique\, sight In and velocity check\, basic internal / external ballistics\, fundamentals\, calibrating “practical accuracy” for your rifle at 100-200 yards\, fast acquisition pressure training\, positional shooting and wraps up with dry fire homework. Example\, 5x25x\, 7x35x\, etc\nOptic can be MIL or MOA but must have a reticle with subtensions\, AND the optic must be equipped with an external turret that can be adjusted incrementally for elevation. DESCRIPTION:This course facilitates the establishment of the fundamentals most necessary to long-range shooting. As an intro\, we overview the major “pillars” that provide you the most success in your long-range goals. This one-day course is for the competitor\, the hunter\, the hobbyist\, or the curious looking to up their game or quench a curiosity about performance at distance. This is a great prep course for those looking to get into PRS! More info on Alaska PRS can be found HERE! \nTopics covered include safety absolutes\, platform imperatives\, firing process\, basic ballistics\, atmospheric conditions\, calculating and proving DOPE\, understanding repeatable precision and accuracy\, wind call and corrections\, and more. Shooters will work in spotter / shooter teams and will cover an incredible amount of ground in a short amount of time. \nNote that this is not a shooting fundamentals course – students must possess an existing competency in 200 to 300-yard precision / accuracy from the prone or benchrest position. \nPreferred is for the student of this course to have completed either our Intermediate Bolt Rifle 201\, or MidRange Practical Rifle\, but previous training with us is not required.
