SUMMARY:Mid Range Practical Rifle – Day 1 – OPEN
DESCRIPTION:This course seeks to equip you with practical bolt action rifle skills training you to optimize your optics and rifle platform to place consistent\, accurate shot groups at distances ranging from 100-600 yards. If equipment and solid fundamentals allow\, we’ll shoot to 1000 yards. We utilize time proven technique and field proven wisdom to assure accurate\, precise performance at various yardages in a variety of compromised positions preparing the hunter\, the target shooter\, or the competitor for repetitive accuracy. \nThis course includes two shooting sessions: \nDay 1 will be held at Birchwood Shooting Park in Eagle River covering safety foundations\, optic  basics\, platform technique\, Optical Zero\, sight In and velocity check\, basic internal / external ballistics\, bolt fundamentals\, calibrating “hunting accuracy” for your rifle at 100-300 yards\, fast acquisition pressure training\, positional shooting and dry fire homework. From sight in\, to the steel challenge finishing up our first day together\, this course will challenge and encourage existing bolt rifle skills. \nDay 2\, held in Talkeetna at the Upper Susitna Shooter’s Association Range\, will prepare you for practical accuracy out to 600 yards. (possibly to 1000 yards if equipment and fundamentals permit) Reading wind\, dialing yardage\, estimating hold over\, and sending consistent hits continues our training as accuracy improving drills at mixed ranges stretch existing skill.  Positional shooting\, reload drills\, unknown yardage and heart rate challenges add the fun back in as we grow you to achieve consistent mid range accuracy. \nPractical accuracy is described in 1 MOA or 1/10 MIL groups ranging from 100 yards-600 yards. \nTotal Course Length: 12 hours \nPrerequisite Course(s): \n\nBasic Bolt Rifle (contact us for details\, bolt rifle experience doesn’t necessarily have to be with Accurate Advantage).\n\nRequired Equipment/Gear:\nSome of these items are available to rent/borrow; see below.\n– Centerfire rifle – must be sighted in for 100 yards\, no exceptions\n– Scope / Optic – minimum power must be 3x or greater\n– Optic must have a reticle with hold over lines or equivalent\, or the optic must be equipped with a turret that can be adjusted incrementally for elevation. Calibrated windage adjustment or hold lines beneficial\, but not required for this course. This course is designed to be a low-pressure training session that guides you through several concentrated hours of instruction\, practical drills\, and achievement. \nWe have two gifts to give through this foundational course: \nOptions: Though a gun would not be your first choice for defense\, we want to gift you options – having the safety\, proper mindset\, and effective abilities with a firearm changes the way you approach life in your context. \nProcess: Many have pulled a trigger\, but they haven’t yet connected the necessary elements that create consistent accuracy. We give you a process that when followed results in repeatable accuracy and in skills usable even under extreme pressure. \nFoundations\, safety\, platform\, accuracy\, function\, malfunctions\, reloads\, state law\, defense rights\, and proper mindset are all topics covered in this foundational course. DESCRIPTION:With this option we offer one-on-one or small group instruction customized to best fit your firearm needs. A membership at Birchwood Shooting Park is NOT REQUIRED for this session – a guest pass can be purchased for $25 for non-members to attend on park training. \nPrivate / Customized Instruction Sessions include: \n-New Gun Checkride – familiarizing yourself with a recently purchase firearm – safety and proficiency. \n-Try Before You Buy – Looking to add a gun to your fleet but you’re not sure what you want? Come shoot a wide variety BEFORE you invest. Basic firearm foundations are taught as well as our popular 5 point gun fit template to better help you know which guns best fit you and your needs providing instinctive accuracy and a lifetime of safe gun ownership. \n-Proficiency / Skill Building – a customizable session to hone a specific skill\, train out of an accuracy preventing bad habit\, prepare for a hunt\, reconnect with an old hobby\, or maintain a competitive edge. \n-Basic Handgun – a private version of our full course offering the same curriculum condensed to meet your specific learning style and context. Shoot your own gun\, or one from our (sanitized!) training fleet. \n-Firearms for Bear – not currently offered as a group course\, but as you seek out door spring adventures\, you may also be anticipating bear encounters – join us for a personalized course to get you ready to face Alaska’s biggest 4-legged threat. \n-Basic Rifle / Basic Carbine – a private version of our full course offering the same curriculum condensed to meet your specific learning style and context. Shoot your own gun\, or one from our (sanitized!) training fleet. \n-Data Download – book a session to use the school’s long-range camera system to track precision groups at distance without the walk or drive downrange\, or the lab radar to track velocities from the muzzle\, incrementally downrange.
