Course Overview: Intermediate Bolt Rifle Safety Course

Our Intermediate Bolt Rifle course is a rifle safety course designed to strengthen the skills you learned in basic rifle training while moving you toward greater precision. Through clear instruction and hands-on practice, this course supports shooters who want better control, stronger fundamentals, and more confident impacts at distance. As a result, it is a strong fit for students preparing for hunts, PRS-style shooting, Mid Range Practical Rifle, or any long-range path.

Throughout this rifle safety course, you will focus on your shooting platform, your optic, and the process that controls each shot. We begin by refining sight-in and stabilizing your platform. From there, you extend your accuracy from 100 to 300 yards. Along the way, you study intermediate ballistics, bullet drop, and basic atmospheric effects. In addition, the course covers dialing and holding with MIL or MOA reticles, giving you a practical way to build reliable DOPE from 100 to 300 yards.

What You Will Learn in This Rifle Safety Course

Most shooting takes place from prone, benchrest, or modified prone positions, which helps you benchmark precision while adapting to changing conditions. At the same time, downrange cameras minimize time spent downrange, allowing you more time behind the rifle. As conditions change, you will continue applying rifle safety principles while refining accuracy and consistency.

Equipment and Prerequisites

Students must bring a bolt rifle sighted at 100 yards, with no exceptions. You will also need a capable optic with external turrets or an internal reticle with hold lines or subtensions, along with 60 rounds of ammunition. We provide targets, shooting mats, spotting gear, rear bags, and DOPE-building tools. In addition, rental rifles and supplementary gear are available to borrow.

Participants must have Basic Bolt Rifle-level experience for this rifle safety course; however, previous training does not need to have been completed with us. If you have questions about equipment or readiness, please reach out before class.
