As an intro\, we overview the major “pillars” that provide you the most success in your long-range goals. This one-day course is for the competitor\, the hunter\, the hobbyist\, or the curious looking to up their game or quench a curiosity about performance at distance. This is a great prep course for those looking to get into PRS! Shooters will work in spotter / shooter teams and will cover an incredible amount of ground in a short amount of time. \nNote that this is not a shooting fundamentals course – students must possess an existing competency in 200 to 300-yard precision / accuracy from the prone or benchrest position. \nPreferred is for the student of this course to have completed either our Intermediate Bolt Rifle 201\, or MidRange Practical Rifle\, but previous training with us is not required. DESCRIPTION:REGISTRATION FOR THIS COURSE MUST BE COMPLETED THROUGH BIRCHWOOD SHOOTING PARK – please call them at (907) 688-2809 or log into your club automation member account with BRSP.  \nThis 2 part course will provide you with a strong foundation in safe gun handling and the fundamentals of handgun shooting with a focus towards the competitive shooting sports\, and personal defense. Pistols and Revolvers are welcome! \n9:00am-1:00pm In a warm classroom environment\, you will train with SIRT laser pistols (and revolver equivalent if applicable) learning a shooter’s mindset\, proper stance\, grip\, a safe holster presentation\, sight alignment\, sight picture\, and trigger control. On your own downloaded firearm you will learn how to make your gun safe\, function the action\, dry fire and correct trigger press\, and your unique sight picture. \nAfter lunch\, we’ll meet from 2:00pm-5:00pm on the outdoor range to put our new skills to the test. In a continuation of the morning’s curriculum\, with live fire we’ll learn basic accuracy\, recoil management\, loading and reloading\, basic malfunction clearing\, and advance trigger technique.
