It is built for students who are 21 or older and already have basic handgun experience. Alaska concealed carry permits include a NICS exemption\, are valid for about five years\, and are accepted in 38 states. \nThis 12-hour class meets all state requirements for classroom instruction and range qualification. \nPlease note: Previous handgun experience is required for this course\, see below. We at Accurate Advantage wish to separate your first shots from the time this course encourages you to focus on the clear mindset\, critical decision making\, and precision skillset required to be a responsible defender. \n\nClassroom: 10am-6pm on Saturday\, August 29th\nE Range: 2pm-6pm  on Sunday\, August 30th\n\nYou will learn essential handgun skills\, safe handling practices\, and the legal concepts that guide responsible self-defense. We cover state defense and protection law\, use-of-force principles\, and the responsibilities that come with carrying a concealed handgun. Scenario-based exercises help you understand how to respond in realistic situations. These drills reinforce safe decision-making and practical skill. \nAt the end of the course\, you will take a written test on firearm safety and defense law. You also complete a shooting proficiency test to show competence with your handgun. After you pass\, you will receive the forms required to submit your permit application to the state. The state will mail your approved permit directly to you. \nIf you are new to handguns\, we recommend completing Basic Handgun 101 before taking this Alaska concealed carry course. It gives you the foundation needed to train safely and confidently. \nStudents must bring a personal handgun with at least two magazines\, or a revolver with at least three speed loaders. You must also bring 200 rounds of factory ammunition and a hip or approved concealed holster and a magazine pouch. Please contact us if you’d like to qualify from concealment. The Mile targets will not be open for practice.\nCompetitors for the mile are required to impact a mid-range target prior to being allowed to shoot the mile. Documentation of qual target completion will be retained. \nSaturday\, October 3rd  & Sunday\, October 4th –  RSO monitored firing line open all day! ~300-1500 yards. Shooters must impact mid-range steel prior to the mile competition – qual target range TBD – expect 800-1000 yards. Even if you’re not shooting the mile\, come grab a practice pass and enjoy the challenge of impacts on steel out to 1500 yards! \nSaturday and Sunday will host identical competitions – A competitor’s first time on the mile platform will be their only scored run. As time allows\, participants are welcomed back to shoot for fun. Winners will be announced on Sunday evening via Facebook Live in these categories 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd place\, Top Young Gun (16 and under) and Top Lady. Winners can pick up their trophies at Arctic Ammo and Reloading if not present on Sunday evening. \nBoth Saturday and Sunday will be split into 2 competition windows – AM\, 10am-2pm\, and PM\, 2pm-6pm. Limited registration is required for a specific time slot to ensure you’ll shoot within a reasonable timeline. If you’re unable to make your registered slot\, we’ll absolutely fit you in! (We’re not that stuffy…) Shooting “just for fun” is also an option -registration is still required. \nCompetitors will be able to view their impacts on a live video stream on provided screens. ROs will monitor impacts through spotting scopes and on additional video feed screens. All completion targets are equipped with multiple highly visible hit indicators. Replay available. \nRemember: Alaska does everything bigger! Exact Alaska Mile Yardage will be announced the DAY OF competition.  \nCourse of Fire –\n*Anyone not wishing to shoot prone can shoot standing from a provided high bench / modified prone position – contact us for details! \n-Round count is unlimited. Plan for multiple rotations on the mile platform as time allows \n-Competitors for the mile start with staged rifles\, bipod and rear bag support can be in place. Competitors are not allowed to shoulder guns or look downrange through their optic prior to stage start \n-Ammo / or magazine must be in hand at time start\, turrets set to zero. (dope must be dialed on the clock) \n-From the start command\, competitors have 4 minutes to dial\, load\, and engage all three targets from large to small. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted \n-After 3 rounds have been fired\, each round fired in addition to the first 3 is given a time penalty of 5 seconds per round \n-After attempting each target\, large to small\, a shooter may return to any target to gain wind or elevation info. Round count penalties apply. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted. \n-Scoring time is captured from the time the last shot is fired \nCompetitive placement is scored based on time expended and number of rounds fired\, including the round count penalties explained above.\nWe’ll operate two firing lanes at the AK mile to allow shooters to set up / tear down while the other lane is live for competition. Eye and Ear pro is required in the shooting area. DESCRIPTION:October 2-4\, 2026 – Willow Creek Air Park\, Mile 73 Parks Hwy\, Willow\, Alaska \nRegistration opens Soon!\nFriday – 2pm-6pm – Practice Targets OPEN: 300yds- 1500yds   – $10 practice pass\nSaturday – 10am-6pm Practice Targets OPEN all day\, Mile competition OPEN – register for 10am-2pm or 2pm-6pm time slots   – $45 match fee includes a meal ticket\nSunday – 10am-6pm Practice Targets OPEN all day\, Mile competition OPEN – register for 10am-2pm or 2pm-6pm time slots    – $45 match fee includes a meal ticket\n\n\nFriday\, October  2nd – RSO monitored firing line open from 2pm-6pm with multiple steel targets available from ~300-1500 yards. The Mile targets will not be open for practice.\nCompetitors for the mile are required to impact a mid-range target prior to being allowed to shoot the mile. Documentation of qual target completion will be retained. \nSaturday\, October 3rd  & Sunday\, October 4th –  RSO monitored firing line open all day! ~300-1500 yards. Shooters must impact mid-range steel prior to the mile competition – qual target range TBD – expect 800-1000 yards. Even if you’re not shooting the mile\, come grab a practice pass and enjoy the challenge of impacts on steel out to 1500 yards! \nSaturday and Sunday will host identical competitions – A competitor’s first time on the mile platform will be their only scored run. As time allows\, participants are welcomed back to shoot for fun. Winners will be announced on Sunday evening via Facebook Live in these categories 1st\, 2nd\, 3rd place\, Top Young Gun (16 and under) and Top Lady. Winners can pick up their trophies at Arctic Ammo and Reloading if not present on Sunday evening. \nBoth Saturday and Sunday will be split into 2 competition windows – AM\, 10am-2pm\, and PM\, 2pm-6pm. Limited registration is required for a specific time slot to ensure you’ll shoot within a reasonable timeline. If you’re unable to make your registered slot\, we’ll absolutely fit you in! (We’re not that stuffy…) Shooting “just for fun” is also an option -registration is still required. \nCompetitors will be able to view their impacts on a live video stream on provided screens. ROs will monitor impacts through spotting scopes and on additional video feed screens. All completion targets are equipped with multiple highly visible hit indicators. Replay available. \nRemember: Alaska does everything bigger! Exact Alaska Mile Yardage will be announced the DAY OF competition.  \nCourse of Fire –\n*Anyone not wishing to shoot prone can shoot standing from a provided high bench / modified prone position – contact us for details! \n-Round count is unlimited. Plan for multiple rotations on the mile platform as time allows \n-Competitors for the mile start with staged rifles\, bipod and rear bag support can be in place. Competitors are not allowed to shoulder guns or look downrange through their optic prior to stage start \n-Ammo / or magazine must be in hand at time start\, turrets set to zero. (dope must be dialed on the clock) \n-From the start command\, competitors have 4 minutes to dial\, load\, and engage all three targets from large to small. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted \n-After 3 rounds have been fired\, each round fired in addition to the first 3 is given a time penalty of 5 seconds per round \n-After attempting each target\, large to small\, a shooter may return to any target to gain wind or elevation info. Round count penalties apply. The stage stops when the smallest target is impacted. \n-Scoring time is captured from the time the last shot is fired \nCompetitive placement is scored based on time expended and number of rounds fired\, including the round count penalties explained above.\nWe’ll operate two firing lanes at the AK mile to allow shooters to set up / tear down while the other lane is live for competition. This will greatly streamline our process! \n  \nLocation: Willow Creek Airpark  –  Mile 73 Parks Hwy\, Willow\, Alaska  –   THANK YOU to our gracious Host\, Scott Jewell! \nParking:\nAmple parking is first come first served – you’re welcome to drop off heavy kit outside the registration line prior to parking. \nRegistration:\nAttendees will funnel through an entry point where you’ll be required to sign a waiver\, watch a digital safety brief\, confirm registration (or register if needed!)\, receive the appropriate wrist band\, and gain entry to our social and shooting areas. Eye and Ear pro is required in the shooting area. Ear plugs are free; eye pro can be purchased if needed. \nFood:\nSnacks and drinks are provided for those registered for Friday’s practice pass.\nSaturday and Sunday competitors receive a meal ticket which is provided to you by our food sponsor\, Alaska Safari Club International! Thank You AK SCI! \nFood truck:\nReturning shooters or non-competing observers can purchase meals from our partner food vendor. A variety of BBQ favorites\, snacks\, and drinks will be available all day Saturday and Sunday! \nFacilities:\nPorta Potty Restroom facilities are provided around the event – Thank You to our partner Royal Flush Septic! \nCamping:\nDry camping is available on site – parking for camper trailers / RVs is ample\, no hookups are offered. Primitive tent camping is also available – grassy areas between roadways offer tent camping. No potable water on site. Porta potty restrooms available nearby. \n\n\nAwards:\nAlaska Mile Winners will be awarded on Sunday evening via facebook live.
