Designed for safe, experienced handgun shooters who are ready to push beyond static range work and step into competitive proficiency. Whether you’re curious about competition or looking to sharpen performance under pressure, this course bridges the gap between recreational shooting and match-ready capability.

Part 1 – Establishes the core knowledge and performance skills required to confidently step into a competitive environment. Students will gain a clear understanding of how competitive shooting works, what to expect at a match, and how to perform efficiently under time constraints.

Part 2 – Builds on foundational skills and introduces more complex stage execution, strategy, and performance tracking. Students will shoot multiple full stages designed to simulate real match conditions.

Match Setup & Hosting
Students will also learn the basics of organizing and hosting a local match — from stage design principles to logistics and safety considerations. Growing competitive shooting in Kodiak is more achievable than many think, and this course empowers shooters to help build that future.

Required Equipment:

  • Personal handgun with at least 3 magazine (low capacity firearms at least 5)
  • Outside the waistband hip holster, sturdy belt, and magazine pouches
  • At least 150 rounds of ammo (for both sessions)
  • Athletic clothing and shoes, light jacket layer you can tuck behind your holster

 Provided Equipment:

  • Targets and backers
  • Example league and competition equipment (some available to borrow! Reserve gear before March 15th!)
