DESCRIPTION:This course seeks to equip you with practical mid-range bolt action or carbine rifle skills preparing you to place consistent\, accurate shot groups at distances ranging from 100-1000 yards\, equipment permitting. We utilize time-proven technique and field-proven wisdom to assure accurate performance at various yardages in a variety of compromised positions preparing the hunter\, the target shooter\, or the competitor for repetitive accuracy. \nThis course includes two shooting sessions: the first session covers safety foundations\, optics basics\, platform technique\, sight In and velocity check\, basic internal / external ballistics\, fundamentals\, calibrating “practical accuracy” for your rifle at 100-200 yards\, fast acquisition pressure training\, positional shooting and wraps up with dry fire homework. Firearm take down\, an overview of cleaning and troubleshooting basics confirm the foundational understanding of how it works and why. Sling fitting and platform will be individualized as dry fire practice introduces accuracy aids\, proper positional shooting\, and competency in full platform operation prior to the out \nThe range portion finds us understanding the sight-in process\, practicing multiple types of reloads\, malfunction clearing\, and basic accuracy from your respective point blank out to 50 yards. Positional shooting tests accuracy\, while basic barricade work stretches new skills. The range portions is a fun filled mix of active shooting drills to lock in new-found skills. \nThis course benefits the first time carbine shooter as well as the experienced. Tips on Alaska state law\, the use of carbines for home and personal defense\, and the legality of hunting with a carbine are shared in appreciation of this multi-purpose platform. \nTotal Course Length: 8 hours \nRequired Equipment/Gear:\nSome of these items are available to rent/borrow; see below.\n– Carbine rifle and at least 3/ 30rnd magazines (Rental firearms are available)\nLower capacity magazines: required round count on body is 90 rounds – plan accordingly\n– A magazine pouch holding at least 1 magazine at belt level.
